The American Association of University Women Educational Foundation offers two fellowships: Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowships of $30,000 for one year of research and Dissertation Fellowships of $20,000 for the final year of doctoral work. These fellowships support women who have achieved distinction or promise in any field. Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants fund female college and university faculty and independent researchers to prepare research for publication. Deadline: November 15
This agency supports women who hold a bachelor's degree and are preparing to advance their careers, change careers, or re-enter the work force. Special consideration is given to AAUW members, women of color, and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields. Funds are not available for doctoral-level work. The award range is $2,000 to $12,000. Deadline: December 15
AERA supports three fellowship programs: AERA-AIR Fellows Program offers up to $100K over two years to researchers with recent doctoral degrees to work in large-scale research environments; AERA-ETS Fellowship Program in Measurement offers up to $100,000 over two years to researchers with recent doctoral degrees to receive training in measurement, psychometrics, and assessment; and Minority Fellowship Program offers $12,000 stipend and $1,000 travel support for one year to doctoral students from underrepresented groups. This agency is looking to support early- to mid-career political scientists for nine-month internship assignments in Congressional offices. Eligible applicants include political scientists who have either completed (within the last 15 years) or are nearing completion of the Ph.D. Fellows will receive a stipend of $38,000, plus a small travel allowance. DOC is seeking proposals providing meaningful watershed educational experiences for students, related professional development for teachers, and help to support regional education and environmental priorities in the Gulf of Mexico. Approximately $700,000 is available to support four to seven awards. Deadline: October 14
ED provides short-term study and travel seminars abroad for U.S. educators in the social sciences and humanities for the purpose of improving their understanding and knowledge of the peoples and cultures of other countries. Deadline: October 25
DOL supports education, training, and job placement assistance in the occupations and industries for which employers are using H-1B visas to hire foreign workers, and the related activities necessary to support such training. Two types of training grants are offered: those that provide on-the-job training to all participants and those that use other training strategies. Approximately $240 million is available to support 75 to 100 awards. Only one application per institution as the lead applicant will be accepted. If you would like to submit a proposal, please send a white paper of no more than two pages to your associate dean and Jennie Amison by 10/7. This agency is seeking proposals that advance science and technology for historic preservation. The PTT Grants program funds projects that develop new technologies or adapt existing technologies to preserve cultural resources. Deadline: October 17
Good Sports seeks to increase youth participation in sports, recreation, and fitness activities. Good Sports provides sports equipment, apparel, and footwear to youth organizations offering sports, fitness, and recreational programs to youth in need. Proposed programs must directly serve youth aged 5-18 years old in disadvantaged areas. Deadline: open
IMLS supports efforts to recruit and educate the next generation of librarians and the faculty who will prepare them for careers in library science. IMLS also supports grants for research related to library education and library staffing needs, curriculum development, and continuing education and training. All types of libraries, except federal and for-profit libraries, may apply. Awards will range from $50,000 to $1 million. Deadline: December 15
Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores provides support for programs that serve communities and that strive to ensure their ongoing strength and well-being. Award size varies. Deadline: open
This program provides 20 fellowships of $25,000 to support students at U.S. graduate schools in the write-up stage of their dissertation research. Topics should center generally on education, but graduate study may be in any academic discipline. Applicants should be interested in pursuing work in the education field upon completion of their degree. Deadline: October 3
This program supports early career scholars working in critical areas of education research. This postdoctoral fellowship funds proposals that make significant scholarly contributions to the field of education. Applications from all disciplines are encouraged, provided they describe research relevant to education. Up to 20 fellowships of $55,000 for one academic year or $27,500 per year for two consecutive years of half-time work will be awarded. Deadline: November 4
The National Alliance for Accessible Golf provides financial assistance and resources to help make the game of golf more accessible to people with disabilities. The National Alliance for Accessible Golf encourages inclusive programming that allows participants with disabilities and participants without disabilities to learn and play the game side by side. The National Research Council seeks to increase diversity of the nation's Institutes of Higher Education faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity and to increase the number of professors who can use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. The National Research Council makes 40 Predoctoral Awards at $20,000 per year for up to three years; 20 Dissertation Awards at $21,000 for one year; and 18 Postdoctoral Awards at $40,000 for one year. The National Science Foundation seeks to support projects in education, outreach, and broadening participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Projects may include: initiatives that seek to advance understanding of the arctic environment, in its broadest sense: from projects that seek to advance fundamental disciplinary understanding to complex interdisciplinary work needed to understand the arctic system as a whole; research that includes culture and environment, resources and economic change, development of social and political institutions, ethnic and regional identities, and knowledge systems; initiatives that work to enhance the environmental observing infrastructure required for the scientific investigation of arctic environmental system change and its global connections; and initiatives that promote effective use of high performance computing for direct and sustainable advances in current arctic research. Approximately $25 million is available for 75 grants. Deadline: October 18
This program supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in fields within NSF's mission. 2,000 fellowships are anticipated. NSF provides a stipend of $30,000 to the Fellow and a cost-of-education allowance of $10,500 to the degree-granting institution. Deadlines: varies from November 14 to November 18
This program awards $2,000 grants to fund student-athlete development and/or health and safety related programming. Approximately 165 grants may be available. Deadline: October 15
SJI supports research, demonstrations, and training to improve judicial administration of the state courts. Preference is given to projects that have national significance. SJI offers six types of grants: Project Grants, Technical Assistance Grants, Curriculum Adaptation and Training Grants, Scholarships, Strategic Initiatives Grants and Partner Grants. The Verizon Foundation provides support to help people increase their literacy and educational achievement; avoid being an abuser or a victim of domestic violence; and achieve and sustain their health and safety. The average grant award ranges from $5,000 to $10,000. Deadline: October 16
