Will filing a workers' compensation claim jeopardize my position?

Your position will not be jeopardized if you file a workers' compensation claim. If you are injured at work, the goal of the San Diego State University Research Foundation is to get you into treatment and healed so you can return to your regular assigned duties.

Do I have to pay for any out of pocket expenses if I am injured at work?

If you go to a doctor in the Medical Provider Network for your work related injury, the expenses will be covered by the workers' compensation carrier. The workers' compensation carrier will provide you with information for reimbursement for any out of pocket expenses you may incur as well as a form to complete for mileage reimbursement for treatment of your work related injury.

If I am unable to work, will I still get paid?

If the Medical Provider Network doctor determines your injury prevents you from working, you will be reimbursed approximately 2/3 of your regular pay by the workers' compensation carrier. If you have sick, vacation or personal time accruals, you may also choose to integrate those with the payment from the carrier so you do not suffer a financial burden if you will be off a significant amount of time due to the work related injury.
