Re: Changes to Department of Health and Human Services/Public Health Service
Conflict of Interest Regulations
In the summer of 2011, new federal regulations regarding financial conflicts of interest were issued by the Department of Health and Human Services/Public Health Service. These changes will have an impact on institutions that apply for or receive research support from PHS agencies, most notably the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Division of Research Affairs, the SDSU Conflict of Interest Committee, and SDSU Research Foundation have been working together in the past several months to revise SDSU's conflict of interest policy and its financial interests disclosure forms. The new policy and forms will be available in August.
This communication is meant to provide you more information about the new federal regulations, which go into effect on August 24, 2012.
