This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student(s) to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of Computer Science for the Maritime Command and Control Information System (MCCIS), the Web Based Information Services Environment (WISE), and the Baseline for Rapid Iterative Experimentation (BRITE). The purpose of this project is to provide support for the MCCIS/WISE/BRITE and the Coalition Warfighter Interoperability Demonstration (CWID). MCCIS/WISE is deployed NATO-wide at 61 sites in 16 NATO Nations and has over 250 users. MCCIS/WISE was developed to provide extensive automated information systems capability to facilitate consultation and to support operational commanders in directing and managing forces in the prosecution of assigned missions. NATO nations have acquired and deployed MCCIS/WISE to meet their national command and control support requirements including support to NATO operations and exercises.
A Navy Contract position is available through the SDSU Research Foundation. Work involves performing data analysis at the Naval Laboratories in Old Town or Point Loma (SSCSD or NHRC). Student data analysts employed on the Navy Contract gain insight and work experience in a variety of laboratory research projects related to their major field.
Undergraduate Student in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is appropriate for the work to be performed. Course work/experience using HTML, UNIX, Java, Web Services, Python, Server Virtualization technologies, and Web Development is desired. Additional skills desirable: familiar with LANs, WANS, Ethernet networks, system administration, and IBM PC compatible computers.
Must be currently enrolled in a college in San Diego County. Minimum of 8 units for students. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 units or enrolled in qualified full-time coursework (i.e. thesis or doctoral dissertation). Enrollment for audit or in extension does not count toward full time enrollment. Must be a U.S. Citizen (proof of citizenship must be produced at the time of hire - birth certificate, certificate of naturalization or a U.S. passport must be viewed - the document must be an original or certified copy).
Hours are flexible to accommodate class schedule. Work is generally performed Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Contractors normally average 20 hours per week when school is in session; 40 hours per week maximum during semester/quarter breaks or vacations. Actual work schedule is arranged between the Navy work sponsor and the student contractor.
