This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of a college student(s) to provide technical and/or analytical support in the field of engineering or computer sciences for the Enterprise Engineering and Certification (E2C) project.
The purpose of E2C project is the test, integration and certification of PEO C4I systems. Those systems include shipboard networks, communications, command and control computing, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and many other systems the war fighter requires.
The contractor shall assist the work sponsor in day to day operations of both E2C laboratories. The contractors shall assist the lab managers to ensure the smooth operations of the labs by keeping schedules, scanning incoming software and integrating software applications, documenting equipment changes and resolving workstation issues, greeting visitors, routing phone calls, updating and verifying standard operating procedures, performing literature searches and reviews, compiling and cataloging background material and updating libraries.
A Navy Contract position is available through the SDSU Research Foundation. Work involves performing data analysis at the Naval Laboratories in Old Town or Point Loma (SSCSD or NHRC). Student data analysts employed on the Navy Contract gain insight and work experience in a variety of laboratory research projects related to their major field.
Students in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering are preferred. 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate, computer literate with Microsoft office products, English as primary language.
Must be currently enrolled in a college in San Diego County. Minimum of 8 units for students. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 units or enrolled in qualified full-time coursework (i.e. thesis or doctoral dissertation). Enrollment for audit or in extension does not count toward full time enrollment. Must be a U.S. Citizen (proof of citizenship must be produced at the time of hire - birth certificate, certificate of naturalization or a U.S. passport must be viewed - the document must be an original or certified copy).
Hours are flexible to accommodate class schedule. Work is generally performed Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Contractors normally average 20 hours per week when school is in session; 40 hours per week maximum during semester/quarter breaks or vacations. Actual work schedule is arranged between the Navy work sponsor and the student contractor.
