The Sponsored Research Department requests that all faculty members submit their proposals to our office at least two days prior to the deadline date. By giving us at least two days to process your proposal, we can be of maximum service to you. Signatures can be obtained, copies made, and the proposal checked for completeness before it is submitted. An early proposal is also the best guarantee that the sponsor will receive it on time.
The Institutional Review Board, a standing committee of the University Research Council, reviews research involving human subjects to determine and certify that all projects conform to the federal and institutional regulations and policies.
A protocol must be submitted, and approval must be granted (including verification of exempt research), before you can begin any work on your project.
If your project will involve the use of human subjects or you have questions about human subjects in projects, please visit the IRB web site to obtain more information at: http://gra.sdsu.edu/research.php.
In meeting its ethical and legal responsibilities for the use of animals in research and education, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) must assure that all such projects or activities are properly carried out, and that animal users assume their responsibilities.
All Principal Investigators using animal subjects are required to have submitted a protocol and received approval before spending funds on any awarded project.
See the IACUC web site for additional information: http://gra.sdsu.edu/iacuc/iacucindex.htm
Committee Meeting Dates: The Animal Committee meets on the second Friday of each month during the Academic Year.
