Subject: Temporary Telework Guidelines
While SDSU and SDSU Research Foundation remain open, we recognize the impact that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic may have on our employees.
Following the university’s guidelines, we have established temporary telework arrangements for employees whose work can be performed outside the office setting during this adverse situation. These arrangements are expected to be short term. The policy is intended to accommodate where possible, employees who are faced with childcare issues related to school closures, those who must care for high-risk family members and those who are higher risk themselves.
Please keep in mind that not all jobs can be performed remotely. Each request will be considered on a case by case basis. Please consult with your supervisor who, in conjunction with HR, will determine if you are eligible. For central staff, SDSURF human resources will provide the final review. For KPBS and SDSU World Campus staff, the managers of those units will provide the final review. For project staff, principal investigators will provide the final review.
Employees deemed eligible will be required to complete and follow the attached Temporary Telework Application & Agreement.
If an employee’s work is not conducive to remote telework, SDSURF’s regular pay and time off practices will apply, meaning missed time would be accounted for by using accrued time.
Employees who work remotely will be expected to use reasonable caution, procedures and equipment that maintains data storage and transmission security.
We understand that timing is critical, especially with the recently announced school closures, so we plan to be as flexible and responsive as possible.
Thank you for your patience as we implement these temporary guidelines.
