Application Process
Please see below for the general SDSU Research Foundation application process which may vary based on the hiring department and role.
1. Application Submission
Candidates begin the application process by completing an online application through SDSU Research Foundation’s careers portal. Please include a current résumé and any required supporting documents. This first step in the hiring process gives our team an opportunity to review your qualifications.
2. Screening and Interviews
Selected applicants move forward to a screening process that may include one or more interviews. These interviews help us better understand your professional background and technical skills. Depending on the role and department, interviews may take place by phone, Zoom, or in person.
3. Reference Checks
If you are selected to move forward in the hiring process, we will contact the professional references you provide to verify your qualifications and work experience. This helps us evaluate your suitability for the position.
4. Tentative Offer and Background Screening
The final candidate receives a conditional job offer, pending the results of a background check, including education and employment verifications. Some positions may require Livescan fingerprinting as part of the pre-employment screening.
5. Formal Offer
Upon clearance of your pre-employment background screening, you will receive a formal offer of employment outlining key details such as compensation, benefits, and your anticipated start date. Once the offer is accepted, the onboarding process begins.
6. Onboarding
After accepting the offer, the onboarding process includes new hire forms and tasks, including an I-9, direct deposit, and state and federal tax forms. Once all tasks are complete, you will receive an official authorization to work email with key details about your first day including claiming your SDSU employee email and timekeeping instructions.
7. Welcome!
As a new employee, you will attend orientation and complete new hire trainings which are designed to help you get familiar with the company benefits, policies, systems, and workplace culture so you can be set up for success in your new role.
